We are transmitting our original textile and products, from Nishijin, Kyoto to the world

May 21, 2011

5/21 Today, H I N A Y A K Y O T O Kiyomizu Gojozaka branch finally open

I would like to thank you for all of your support to open this new store today.

We "HINAYA" has produce4d our original items in Nishijin, Kyoto until today. From now on, we sincerely will introduce our "existence" toward not only local people in Kyoto but people from all over the world.

It has been a long time people start saying that "No visitors to the factories" but I don't agree for that.

Also people say that "Young people now are not interested in the outside of Japan" "People don't ware Kimono anymore"and so on, I also don't agree for this either.

It has been trendy to ware Kimono as nostalgic fad among young people and changing the circumstances around Kimono.

I believe that there are many people who are interested in "producing", "communication with foreigners" and "Kimono" more than before.

I do hope this store become full of those kind people and turning point of new encounter, producing and business as well.

That is the resolution to open this new store.

With the foundation of dyeing and weaving from Kyoto, traditions of Kyoto and Japanese view of the nature, we would like to contribute for Japanese culture to step forward communicating with the world globally, that is "HINAYA" 's philosophy.

We may be far from that philosophy but we all will make it come true, I promise.

Please give us frankly advise and opinion to us anytime, that would be very appreciate.

Thank you so much and would like to send you all best wishes.

5/10 Saori loop

Saori loop, HINAYA invented.

We will display this in the show room at Kiyomizu Gojozaka.

The visitors can experience to weave the weft by themselves picking their favorite colors.

I am thinking now as an idea that after they weaved 1.8 - 2m, tie up in a bundle to make one scarf and display them to show. Maybe we can sell them.

Isn't it very nice to make one scarf by many people who visit our show room?

We are going to try things like this at HINAYA KYOTO.

5/9 Introducing for the opening of HINAYA KYOTO Kiyomizu Gojozaka branch

It's been almost 80 years since we started producing Nishijin Ori Obi with the name of company "HINAYA".

We have been producing many kind of Obis. We have been making new style of Obi going upstream to the history of weaving, trying to understand and setting that origin.

We invented our own weaving loop even it was popular to produce things with division of labor.

We spread to producing women's apparel, tops and scarves not only Obi after we discovered how to make textile for western style garment by weaving loop after repeated trial and error.

Now they are sold not only in Japan but America and even China.

So far, Obi is sold in Kimono store only and western style garment is sold at department store separately. We hadn't had a show room space that you can see every HINAYA products at once.

"HINAYA KYOTO" at Kiyomizu Gojozaka in Kyoto is now the place that dream which I can show you every product at once come true.

You can see and purchase HINAYA Obi, AKIHIKO IZUKURA scarves and 「mitasu+」 shawls there.

Also we sell HINAYA textile, a scrap of cloth of HINAYA textile and archive Obi from Kura as HINAYA FABRICS on the 2nd floor.

We will work harder more for not only for local customers but customers from all over the world coming to Kyoto wholeheartedly.

I would like all of you to come to visit and enjoy our new show room "HINAYA KYOTO"、"HINAYA FABRICS" at Kiyomizu Gojozaka, Kyoto.
