Kimono Catwalk by Hiromi Asai in Gothenburg

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 03, 2011 – The kimono has a long history in Japan — more than 1,000 years —, but the kimono should be recognized as a fashionable garment, not just a traditional or ceremonial garment.

Kimono Catwalk is held at the Museum of the World Culture (Världskulturmuseet) in Gothenburg, Sweden on 7th April 2011. It starts at 6:30PM. A New York-based kimono fashion stylist, Hiromi Asai, brings a unique, colorful fashion show to the museum, where old meets new.

Museum of World Culture is holding a special exhibition called “Kimono Fusion“, during the period from September 17th 2010 to May 31st 2011. This exhibition takes its starting point in the kimono and merges it into current Japanese subcultures and fashion trends. This Kimono Catwalk is linked to this exhibition.

Hiromi Asai shows the basics of authentic kimonos and the change in kimono fashion through more than one thousand years, followed by Kimono Catwalk, a kimono fashion show where different styles are displayed on the catwalk. At first, she demonstrates how the kimono is worn and how the Obi sash is tied in various ways, as well as how the kimono has influenced both art and fashion all over the world. Subsequently, different styles are shown from traditional to contemporary African, including traditional Japanese wedding fashion. Through this show, she would like the people in Europe could realize the variety of kimono beauty as well as the potential of kimono to be recognized as a new world fashion.

This event is nominal supported by the Embassy of Japan in Sweden. HINAYA KYOTO, WAFRICA, and Kimono Hiro in NY support to provides kimonos and obi sashes. This event also would like to encourage people suffering from the disaster in Japan.

The kimono is not a heritage. Hiromi Asai believes that the kimono could be used as a garment that is beyond cultural and ethnic boundaries.

4/1 When we welcome new freshmen as our staff

Today, we welcomed two new staff members as freshmen.

It is always moving when we start working with the freshmen every ear.

It reminds me when I was there, don’t you think?

This is just only once in a life time, isn’t it?

I always give the speech at the first morning gathering for them “the ideal” and “the reality”.

That was I used feel when I was there and still have same feeling even 16 years later since then.

We must be very astonished and confused when we see the gap between the ideal and the reality when you have just started working out. The thing is how positive you can move forward in between.

Accept the gap, stare the reality and not twist your ideal, and try step forward, keep forward.

You need strong backbone to make it to your motivation even if the gap is too big for you.

The efforts you did is not wasting at all and helps you grow. To keep making that effort must to change it better.

To live without ideal or to give your dream up feeling frustrated is too vain to live.

Let’s talk about it based on job.

We, each staff in HINAYA is trying to make our ideal come true and work worthing not just wasting a time to come to work.
